The Alexandreis is a medieval Latin epic of the life of Alexander the Great. The eminent poet, scholar, and theologian Walter of Châtillon {Gualterus de Castellione} wrote the Alexandreis in France in the last quarter of the twelfth century. Walter studied at the University of Paris and University of Bologna and was well-versed in the Latin classics. Walter had deep understanding of men’s personal dilemmas in medieval Europe.
