Aristophanes

Aristophanes wrote and directed ancient Greek comic plays in Athens between 427 BGC and 386 BGC. He’s the earliest of Greek comic playwrights for whom a whole play has survived. In fact, eleven of Aristophanes’s plays have survived, while ancient records attributed about forty-four plays to him. Aristophanes’s “Old Comedy” is topical, bawdy, and sophisticated. Aristophanes provides a model for comic plays that are ever relevant and ever new. Here are some modernizations of Aristophanes’s plays.
