Choricius

Choricius of Gaza was a sixth-century sophist / rhetorician. He was a eminent member of the influential School of Gaza and a student of Procopius of Gaza. Both Choricius and Procopius gained appointments to what seems to have been a major, publicly supported chair of rhetoric in Gaza. Both were Christians, but their works follow traditional Greco-Roman forms and subjects. Choricius shows considerable sensitivity to men’s gender-specific concerns.
