Galbert of Bruges

Galbert of Bruges was a notary serving Count Charles the Good in his rule over Flanders. Galbert chronicled the murder of Count Charles in 1127, as well as preceding and subsequent events. Galbert wrote his chronicle in Latin. He organized his chronicle mainly by date. Showing unusual social consciousness within gynocentric society, Galbert lamented the loss of many men’s lives in the Flemish civil war following the murder of Count Charles.
